The Shoe Anniversary

We are all familiar with the "silver anniversary" (25th) and the "gold anniversary" (50th), but did you know that the eighth anniversary is the "shoe anniversary"? Really, it is! (Okay, not really. According to Wikipedia, the eighth anniversary is actually the "bronze anniversary". Phooey, I say! Shoes are way more practical.)

My wrapping jobs always look like a rabid beast attacked the paper, so I didn't even attempt to cover the boxes.
So new and shiny!
Okay, so maybe we've officially joined the ranks of old, predictable couples. I did after all simply tell Randy that I had taken care of our anniversary presents and that he didn't need to worry about any gifts. We're spending today apart mostly. He worked all night and has to sleep, so the kids and I decorated for Christmas, did laundry, listened to Christmas music, and are baking Daddy a chocolate cake. It's nice though. Today exemplifies all that we hoped for when we got married. (Okay, maybe I had hoped to have a washer and dryer, but we're still living out our dreams every day.) It's been eight great years (plus the four years before the wedding). Not always easy, but always worth it. Thankful for every moment and hopeful for many more! :)

  1. Congratulations on your anniversary! Shoes are a perfect gift! (Just think how many miles the two have you have journeyed together over these last eight years.... and just think how many more miles lie ahead!)

  2. @ Robin: I had not caught the excellent symbolism. Now the shoes are even cooler! :)
