This past week the kids and I headed down south so that I could visit my work office and they could hang out with their grandparents. The timing worked out quite nicely as it was also Grandpa's and G's birthday weeks. After a slight panic when realizing our portable dvd player had broken, I made it down to Virginia smoothly. (Thank you Randy for fixing the dvd player!) We arrived in time to attend the big celebration for Grandpa and G with our entire family (except for Randy, who was in PA working). Our families just keep growing and it's such a blessing when we all manage to get together. My parents have a dining table with special extensions just to fit us all. Sitting there among my parents, sisters, and their families makes me smile. :)
I then headed down to NC for work while the kids lapped in the luxury of hanging out with Nana and Grandpa. Grandpa does an excellent job of stocking up on their favorite foods. They were in great hands while I ran around the office and then back to VA.
I did manage a pit stop on the way down to NC at my sibling in-laws to meet their new baby and give my older niece a hug. Every road trip should involve snuggling with a sleeping baby half way through!
I headed back to my parents' place in a dark downpour, fairly tired from my traveling and hectic pace. Randy had good news from PA though - our leasing office had replaced the oven we had that was older than I am!

| Ooh - so new and shiny and with two large burners!! |
The kids and I got snowed in VA for an extra day and then headed back to PA on Thursday, just in time to get ready for G's big 6th birthday on Friday.
| Birthday girl |
G awoke to her presents - clothes and....a bike!
| The big gift - a bicycle! |
Fortunately we had an unusually warm and sunny day on Friday and after we picked her up from school we headed to the store (for G to buy a helmet with her birthday money) and then the park for some cycling.
G had her favorite dinner (quesadillas) and practically bounced to bed excitedly chatting about the events to come the next day.
G's friend is also a March baby, so G attended her party Saturday morning:
| Her first manicure. Note: My first manicure was most likely for my sister's wedding. I was 23. |
| She looks so grown-up to me in these pictures! |
| Chatting with the manicurist |
| There's the six year old in her coming out. |
| Lunch with her girls |
| Mac N Cheese! |
After the manicures and lunch, G came home for her party:
| Ready for her guests! |
| Ice cream sundae party |
| He did have to sit at his own table, but he didn't mind as long as he had some ice cream. |
| May they always be friends, and also this silly and carefree |
| Brotherly and sisterly love or headlock? |
G's party guests left full of ice cream and happy. G beamed her way through the day. C somehow managed to nap through most of the party. I call that a success! :)
