Last Days of Summer

We've mostly spent the last two weeks hunkered down at our apartment while Randy recovers from having his ACL reconstructed and his meniscus removed. Basically, this time has been a blur of medicine and ice rituals, physical therapy, stir-crazy kids, fast-food dinners, and working whenever I could squeeze it in.

I did manage to escape with G for our second annual Mother/Daughter Morning Out. We've made a tradition of going out just the two of us for a back-to-school haircut, shopping, Open House to meet her teacher, followed by lunch at the restaurant of her choosing. When you're one of three kids, a morning like this is pretty darn special.
She doesn't look enthused, but she was.
Post-cut photo op! Morning brushing is by far a more pleasant experience now.
G chose Cracker Barrel for lunch because they have popcorn shrimp that comes with a hush puppy. G always asks to cut it in half so that I can have some too. (She's definitely half my husband. His whole family LOVES to feed those they love; the proof of this being the car full of leftovers we cart home every Christmas eve.)
We're now officially ready for the 1st grade!
