Where oh Where has the "A" Family Gone?

Monday night G woke up at midnight to inform me that she was having what I shall call "stomach issues." So I found myself changing linens and bathing a 4 year old instead of sleeping at 1 AM on Tuesday morning. She had a fever and chills and I felt so badly for the poor thing, but she was in very good spirits all things considered. That is, until I told her that she would not be able to go to school that day. Then her huge blue eyes welled up with tears and she began to sob. She calmed down a little bit when I explained to her that she could make her friends sick if she was at school. She agreed that she didn't want to share her germs.

So Tuesday morning she had more "stomach issues." By the afternoon we happened upon her asleep on the living room floor. G never sleeps during the day. She didn't even sleep when she was 2 days old. We pumped her full of gatorade, which was about the only thing she would eat or drink, and kept a close eye on her temperature. Her tummy seemed better the next day, but we quickly noticed something new - pink eye! Seriously kid, how did you manage to get two separate illnesses so close together?

By Thursday G had a nasty cold to go with her pink eye, but fortunately her "stomach issues" were much better. Once again she could not go to school and S, who had scarcely left the house all week was beginning to go a little nuts. Not to worry though because by Friday, he had a matching cold.

Did I mention that during this time Baby C has been cutting a new tooth and not sleeping well? That Randy has a cold of his own? That this is one of the busiest work weeks of the entire year for me? No? Well that's obviously because I'm taking this week like a champ. :)

Okay, I'll admit I am a little overwhelmed. It's one of those weeks where I catch myself longing for our families that are several states away. Someone who could take the healthy children out to have fun, while I tend to the sick one, or even just a friendly face during a chaotic week.

Please don't get me wrong though, I know exactly how blessed we are. Our kids are typically very healthy, and a tummy bug/cold/pink eye is nothing when compared to what some children endure. G was doing better today and aside from a disgusting runny nose, S is up to his usual antics. If all goes well we might actually get out of this apartment tomorrow for a little bit and we are all more than ready for some fresh air.

Before I close today, here's a picture of Baby C from this week, because he's so stinkin' cute:
For the record, he knows he's not supposed to be in the bathroom.
