Food is Art

This week was our town's annual Arts Festival! Which of course for our family ended up being all about the food, and not the art. (And the elevator. We had to park on the roof of a parking deck that had a glass elevator. We could've stayed in the parking deck riding the elevator over and over and the kids would have been thrilled.)

The kids are still too little to really enjoy viewing the exhibits at the festival. I'm sure the artists have lovely work, but how can a drawing or sculpture compare to this in a child's eyes:
A bubble machine!

So many bubbles!

That blur behind the stream of water is G. This piece of "art" dunks kids with water from high above.
Of course, poor S who does not even enjoy having his hair washed, was less than thrilled with the buckets. Instead he chose an alternative form of entertainment:
Eating blueberries on a bench
After the bubbles and water fun, we found a shady spot near a martial arts demonstration and grabbed a few soft pretzels for the kids to eat.
So good!

He'll eat just about anything.

Pretzels make Daddy happy too!
It was a warm day and the baby needed a nap soon, so instead of meandering about the festival, we walked down to the local Italian ice store.
What flavor did he choose? You guessed it. Birthday Cake!

She also picked the cake flavored ice.

He got a few bites of Mama's soft serve.

Mama stole a few bites of Daddy's creamsicle

Italian Ice Mustache
So, several blueberries, pretzels, and Italian ices later, we left the Arts Festival, maybe not feeling any more cultured than when we had arrived, but certainly more full.
