Happy Belated Fourth!

Since we got back from vacation, we've been rather busy unpacking, catching up on laundry, working, and making a tart from the blackberries we picked from behind the apartment:
So tasty that Randy felt the need to take a picture!
We also celebrated the 4th of July at our church's annual picnic this past week. The kids loved the potluck dinner because there was ample watermelon (of course). The cotton candy machine was also quite the attraction.
First taste of cotton candy. Baby C was a little envious.
The kids ran around outside (and also inside the gymnasium). Baby C wandered all over the church yard.
We blew some bubbles for him. He was more interested in trying to join  the teens' ultimate frisbee game.
While the kids didn't last until the fireworks (which I didn't really expect would happen), we all had a lovely evening.
We gave up trying to get everyone to look in the same direction, and smile all at the same time a LONG time ago.
After I got the smallest kids to bed, I got in the car and ran down the road to attempt to spot our town's big fireworks show. Apparently, every other person in town also decided to do this. I was amazed at the car-studded back roads and lack of free should space along the good viewing areas. I finally found a little spot and pulled over for a minute. I could see the top portion of the fireworks and watched for a little while, but I kept getting distracted by the fire flies. There were so many and they were so beautiful! It was God's little fireworks show and I have to admit that it was more breathtaking than the fireworks shooting off above the trees.

Happy Belated 4th Everyone!
