The First Full Day of Kindergarten

Today was G's first full day of kindergarten.

We took a few pictures of her in the new back-to-school dress her Daddy bought her:
Ready for Kindergarten
Big hugs for Daddy
Then we drove her to school. Randy walked her over to the entrance where we were to drop her off. He got a few more pictures in:

She looked so little to me next to all the elementary schoolers
Daddy also made sure she got to the correct room okay. Mama sat in the van with the boys and cried. (I am not an overly-emotional person, by the way. Anyone who knows me can attest that I am far from sappy. It was just hard. Like returning to the office after a maternity leave kind of hard.)

We had to go grocery shopping though. We had to move on with our day. Plus, I had these little faces that needed to see their Mama smiling:
I love how he always gets the toothpaste on his face
He made it his mission to fill the silence that G left behind.
By the end of the day, I was counting down the minutes until we could pick G up from school. We all got out of the car to fetch her and milled around the entrance with the dozens of other parents doing the same. And then she appeared, book-ended by civic-minded fifth graders who looked huge in comparison.
These girls had their hands full!
We all got big hugs from the very excited and happy little girl:
I guess I have my hands full too
After constant companionship for three and a half years, a day apart can seem like an eternity
G told us all about her fun day: playing with Ipads and play-dough and going to recess and lunch. She had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back tomorrow.

Randy and I are so excited for G. However as her parents, it's so hard to believe that anyone else could care for the well-being and safety of our child as much as we do. We're learning to let go and trust, but she's our first baby, after all. This is going to take some time.
