Big Boy Bed

About two days ago I was leading C into the room he shares with S for naptime. As casually as if he's done it a million times, C walked into the room and climbed into S's bed. He told me in his broken 2-year old language that he was sleeping there and not in his crib. And then he did...and did it again at bedtime...and again at the next naptime. He was done with his crib.

S was not happy with the sudden change, as it greatly altered his equilibrium. So each night we were cautiously sneaking a sleeping C back into his crib when S was heading to bed. I quickly realized it was time to take the crib down.

So today I disassembled the crib for the first time in 6.5 years without the intention of immediately reassembling it in a new location. I shared in C's excitement over his latest milestone, but had that gentle tugging in my heart that we moms always feel when our youngest child outgrows yet another stage. Of course this feeling was compounded as we never intended for this crib to sit empty. We're only 6 weeks away from what was our due date.

However, mostly I am just excited for our little man because he's so pleased with himself and his new bed:
He might be getting bigger, but he won't be giving up his ball anytime soon.

He spent a bunch of time chilling here today. And jumping here.
