Birthday Week - Part 1!

To make things easier on myself as my due date rapidly approaches, I decided to hold G's birthday party a week early. Scrubbing floors, vacuuming, baking, etc are not usually physically taxing, but felt much akin to marathoning this week. (That is, what I imagine marathoning must be like if I chose to do something as crazy as run 26 miles.)

We had three of her friends and their siblings over for a pizza party, including a decorate-your-own cookie pizza activity in which we filled an automatic candy dispenser with Skittles, set out bowls of frosting, and let the kids have a free for all. (Who needs a fancy party at a special venue when you can just throw sugar at kids for mere pennies?)

Balloon fun!

Cookie pizza!

Yes, that is a veterinary hospital "lego" set, for our self-proclaimed future vet.

And a walking unicorn! She also got a stuffed hamster. G's friends know her so well. This girl eats, sleeps, and breathes animals. Her favorite book series? You guessed it; it's Animal Ark.
The kids ran around chasing each other and balloons for a while. (We had only one injury and it was to my kid, so it's all good!) Then we sent all the friends home with make-your-own pizza stickers. It was quite the affair, at least for a 7th birthday party.

G was gracious, we didn't get snowed in, everyone had fun. All in all, a success!

And, in case you were wondering, I did almost immediately lie down and nap for several hours. I also fed the kids leftover pizza for dinner, because I'm nearly 37 weeks pregnant and I was most definitely not cooking dinner after hosting a party for 8 kids and 6 adults.

Stay tuned for Birthday Week - Part 2!
