Five is the new 50

We celebrated C's big fifth birthday this week. As I read through the post I created in honor of his second birthday, I was struck by how little his tiny (yet big) personality has changed over the past three years. C still eschews age-appropriate toys for the real-deal grown-up version. He uses real hammers and screwdrivers, he cooks real food. He insisted on removing his training wheels and then took off riding, with just as much ease as a few years back when he declared he was done with diapers and ready for potty-training. When C deems something too young for him, he lets go and doesn't look back.

He's still our helper, eager to assist any adult with an adult task. He admires super heroes both real (like fire fighters) and imagined (like Spiderman). He's still shy in public, but a total ham with those he feels comfortable.

And best of all, in spite of all this maturity packed into such a tiny package, he has no qualms sharing hugs and kisses with his mama and sneaking into our bed in the early morning hours.

So, here's to five years with our sweet C! What a blessing he is to our family.

He ate his favorite food, watermelon, for the fifth birthday in a row.

Started his birthday with Daddy snuggles.
