The day got off to a good start - the kids all slept past 6! I don't often have time to make breakfast from scratch, but today I cooked up some tasty pork sausages I had scooped up on markdown yesterday. I pulled out the cookbook from my old church in Virginia and located a sure-to-be delicious biscuit recipe from one of the long-time members. (This lady has a farm, with like actual chickens and cows and stuff. She even has a recipe that calls for squirrel. This lady knows how to cook.) The biscuits did not disappoint.
When Randy got home from work, we ate breakfast together as a family and then he went to lay down for a little nap. Baby C was fussy and clingy so I didn't get much done before Randy woke up. Knowing what getting out of the house can do for a fussy baby, we gathered the troops and loaded everyone into the van to go to a local bank's "Day at the Circus!"
It wasn't much of a circus, but the event was free and included balloons, the Tumblebus, dogs for petting, and cookies, so the kids thought it was awesome.
Mmmm...cookies!
A Baby and His Balloon
Chocolate Chocolate Chip?! And less than an hour before lunch!
Baby C and I fell asleep almost immediately after we got back to the apartment. We slept for about two hours and it was wonderful! It was a beautiful day though, so shortly after we woke up, we headed to a nearby park to get the kids some exercise before the cold and nasty weather arrives this week.
Even though he's always pressing our buttons because he's you know, 3, I cannot stay angry at this face for long.
I know she looks terrified, but she was actually having a really good time.
S was waiting at the bottom of the slide and telling each child "Good job!" as they slid down.
We were Skyping Nana and Grandpa during the big egg dye so we neglected to take any pictures. Suffice it to say that we ended up with quite a bit of dye on our fingers, a few cracked shells ("Look Mama! Egg's hatchin'!"), and it all ended with S devouring one of the casualties. S loves hard-boiled eggs.
Even though the day ended with S going to bed early because he refused to clean up his toys and G pouting because she had to lay on a pillowcase that had trucks on it because her pillowcase was in the hamper, we still had quite a lovely day. I know G says many days are the "best day ever!" but I believe she really means it each time. Every simple, not so extraordinary day spent enjoying time with our little family is definitely the best day ever.
Happy Easter everyone!
