Why I Don't Blog More Often

We all know that parents are busy (well, maybe if you've never met a kid you don't know that). Just feeding, clothing, changing, nursing, cleaning, toting, and disciplining the babies takes up a lot of time. I try not to let that general busy-ness be an excuse for neglecting to keep my family and friends a part of our lives. I'd never want to one day wake up and realize that I'd lost all connections outside of my immediate family because I couldn't see past my "to-do" list each day. However, when I don't immediately return calls or e-mails, here's what I might be up to that day:

  • Returning a window shade at Target, while my two older kids "discover" that some doors at the store open automatically. They take turns seeing how close they have to be for it to trigger.
  • Cleaning up cat accidents in the dining room, twice. Different cats, different types of accidents, equally disgusting.
  • Laying down towels as a toilet overflows in the bathroom that also houses the litter box. This is apparently what happens when you hit the handle many times in rapid succession.
  • Finding a baby playing in the toilet when a sibling apparently left the bathroom door open for 0.5 seconds.
  • Cleaning a highchair (or the area directly under the chair, or the baby in the chair):

  • Braiding/brushing my husband's hair:

  • Extracting 10 toy cars out of the five loads of laundry I am washing (including 1 load of sopping towels from the earlier toilet overflow):

  • Attending one of G's daily productions. Starring G of course, with S as the supporting cast and all the furniture in the living room as the scenery:

  • Writing a super-quick blog about why I don't have time to blog. :)
