In Which Our Family Eats Something Gross then Something Good...

Has it been a year already since I last wrote about the Great Insect Fair? It feels like we were just there!

At any rate, the family once again attended the Great Insect Fair. So did the rest of the town. The place was packed. We did manage to get through a few lines and the kids got to play some mini-golf, strut for a photo shoot, and for the grand finale: they ate bugs. (Yes, I said bugs.)

Baby Bug
Another S Bug pic because he's so cute!
How to keep a baby happy at an event in which he cannot participate? Supply him with his very own cup of Goldfish!
So maybe he's breaking about 10 putt-putt rules, but he still had fun!
I like how S has a nervous face, like maybe G could actually eat him.
The kids happily ate the chocolate crickets, but only Daddy was brave enough to straight-up eat the larvae. I did not eat any of it, in case you were wondering.
The bugs were just enough to whet everyone's appetites, so Daddy treated the family to a Chinese food buffet! Which basically means that the kids loaded their plates with fruit, hard-boiled eggs, some veggies, and fish, and only Randy and I ate the actual Chinese food. We also let the big kids have some ice cream and the little fella munch down on some Tapioca pudding.
Mmmm...pudding!
Chocolate ice cream!
And because our family knows how to party, we then walked over to the Dollar Tree and let the kids explore/pick out one toy:

Our Little Firefighter
The rest of the day included napping, football watching, and me making PB&J for dinner because 1) we had eaten at a buffet for lunch; 2) I was in slacker-mode; and 3) the kids eat that better than almost anything else I would make anyway.

This day was made possible by Daddy having a rare Saturday night off. We all loved every extra minute with him. :)
