The Big 3-0!

To celebrate Randy's thirtieth birthday in style, I planned a celebration with our family during this year's Pow-Wow weekend. We packed up our kids and headed down to Virginia for a whirlwind weekend adventure!

Saturday started with a trip to the Pow-Wow with the kids. We didn't have much time there, but they did the really important stuff, like eat a fish sandwich and of course, watch some dancing and listen to the drums.
Mmm, fish!
We got to hang with some family at the Pow-Wow and the kids were thrilled to see their cousin.
Sneaky cousin and uncle
After the Pow-Wow, we headed to a nearby park and set up for the party. The only theme for the day was to shower Randy with his favorite things: everything from food to people.
You can't tell from the picture, but that's Pierce's BBQ under the foil! There's also Randy's Mom's broccoli and cheese casserole!
And here we have the birthday cake, which is of course filled with cheesecake. Then behind the cake are the treat bags, filled with Reese's Pieces, Smarties, Yoohoo, and cookies in the shape of clouds. :)
Randy, enjoying the family time.
There was a playground, so the kids ran around and ran around and ran around some more. S kept trying to steal cake (and his Aunt C's sweet tea):
He pretty much stationed himself right between the tea and cake.
Keeping track of kids and hosting a party can be quite difficult, but thankfully there were many helping hands around to keep an eye on the kids.
It was a gorgeous day to be outside (a little windy, but nothing that Aunt N couldn't tackle with some ribbon and ingenuity). The whole event was a blast!

I could not have pulled such a party off from several states away without the help of so many family members. The whole day was a testament to how much people love Randy: from the distance many traveled to be there, to bringing/making drinks, ice or food, to running errands, to watching kids. What a blessing to be part of such a family! Thanks to everyone for helping to give Randy a birthday he deserved. :)
