The kids may have been out of school for almost a month, but with two working parents, they've had to wait for much of the fun to begin.
N was in a ballet recital and as a result of her enthusiastic daily practice all over our house, did a lovely job.

Ballet makes one hungry
S spent a week alone at his grandparents' house, a rare treat for a child that shares his grandparents with eleven other children. He had the best time. He also ate them out of house and home.

We all visited Nana and Grandpa and had our usual obligatory trips to the local ice cream shack and pool. We also toured an incredible Lego exhibit at a local museum.

Pool time. It was 70 degrees. I declined to join them.

Ice cream!
We left G behind for her own special grandparents visit and then headed to Gettysburg for the first time ever. S was especially excited, as he is a Civil War buff. Our visit began with lunch at the Gettysburger (which might have been the kids' favorite part of the visit).

C was very impressed with his salad
We then visited the museum and battlefields.

Those waving hands on the top right are my family. I applauded their bravery from the ground.

These excerpts dot the landscape. It really was quite sobering.
We didn't have enough time to do it all, but we still left with a full appreciation for this incredibly tragic event in our nation's history.
Ice cream? ✔️ Pool? ✔️ Museum? ✔️ Gettysburg? ✔️
What's next on our bucket list? Stay tuned!
